Terry Gilliam Presents Time Bandits
Graf Von Faber-Castell and GQ sponsored an evening dedicated to filmmaker Terry Gilliam who presented his 1981 film, Time Bandits. The event took place at the Electric Room and benefited FilmAid International.
Giliam: “Basically it was a very simple idea. I wanted to show the world through a child’s eyes and through a child’s perspective and I didn’t think I could find a child actor who could hold the whole film together so I thought, let’s surround him with people of similar size. And what better than a bunch of people who helped God to create universe? But I got bored and decided that robbing banks and pillaging through history was much more fun.”
“Well, there is one other thing. We are talking about laughter and that is important as a director. But it also takes a goof audience so when its tragic you cry and when its funny you laugh.”
