Graf Von Faber-Castell and GQ sponsored an evening dedicated to filmmaker Terry Gilliam who presented his 1981 film, Time Bandits. The event took place at the Electric Room and benefited FilmAid International.

Giliam: “Basically it was a very simple idea. I wanted to show the world through a child’s eyes and through a child’s perspective and I didn’t think I could find a child actor who could hold the whole film together so I thought, let’s surround him with people of similar size. And what better than a bunch of people who helped God to create universe? But I got bored and decided that robbing banks and pillaging through history was much more fun.”

Time Bandits

Time Bandits (1981) A young boy Kevin’s wardrobe contains a time hole. Through this hole an assortment of short people (i.e. dwarfs) come while escaping from their master, the supreme being. They take Kevin with them on their adventures through time from Napoleonic times to the Middle Ages to the early 1900s, to the time of Legends and the Fortressof Ultimate Darkness where they confront Evil.
